Meet the School Board

​​Jenni Klose
Representative to the Sonoma County Committee on School District Organization

A graduate of Santa Rosa City Schools; attended Brook Hill Elementary, Herbert Slater Junior High, and Montgomery High Schools. Attended Santa Rosa Junior College on a Doyle Scholarship; B.S. in Biochemistry from U.C.L.A.; J.D. from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington.

Employment: Attorney practicing in civil litigation and appellate law.

Special Interests: Increasing community engagement in public education; promoting professional development and innovation through peer-centered coaching and collaboration; closing the achievement gap; dual immersion education.

​​Bill Carle

Santa Rosan for over 30 years; raised in Cupertino; graduate of Chico State and Boalt Hall Law School at UC Berkeley.

Employment: Partner at the law firm of Carle, Mackie, Power & Ross.

Special Interests: K-12 standards, student support plan, education funding and community outreach.

First Elected: 1998

Laurie Fong

A Santa Rosa resident since 1987, two daughters who graduated from Santa Rosa City Schools. B.A. from UC Berkeley, Masters in Education from University of Utah, Education Administrative credential from Sonoma State University.

Employment: A 23 year career as a teacher and a 19 year career as a school administrator. 

Special Interests: English Language Learners' achievement, fiscal health, partnerships with private, non-profit and governmental agencies to support students, post-high school readiness for success.

Frank Pugh

AA degree - Southwestern Community College BA and MA degrees - San Diego State University.

Employment: Instructor, Counselor and Academic Advisor, Santa Rosa Junior College since 1979. Current Author McGraw-Hill Book Company.

Special Interests: Common Core Standards, Facilities, State and Federal Relations, Charter Schools, creating new programs and closing the achievement gap.

Membership: Member to the Board of Directors for the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and the National School Boards Association (NSBA). Past President of CSBA. President-elect of NSBA​. Past member of the California ED Coalition. Member of the Board of Directors for the Education Council of the National Association or Manufacturers (NAM).

Ron Kristof
Delegate to California School Boards Association

Native Santa Rosan; B.A. Political Science/English, Teaching Credential & M.A. Political Science from Sonoma State University.

Taught social studies, English, and foreign language in the Santa Rosa School District for twenty-eight years; six years experience in business; currently working toward the organization of an educational nonprofit.

Areas of particular interest include developing powerful, inquiry-based curriculum; building strong, representative communities to support each school site; and working toward adequate and sustainable financing for public schools.

Evelyn Anderson

Parent of one graduate and one current Santa Rosa City Schools student.  B.A.s in French and Pre-Law at the University of the Pacific; M.B.A.​ with a concentration in cross-cultural management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.  Santa Rosan for over 22 years.

Employment:  Liaison for trade and investment between American and Chinese entities.  Parent volunteer in Santa Rosa City Schools for 13 years.

Special Interests:  Supporting and increasing parent involvement, providing differentiated instruction to address the needs of all learners, ensuring fiscal viability of public schools.

Ed Sheffield

BA in History and Social Studies, Western Washington University; MPA, Sonoma State University.  Parent of two.

Employment:  District Representative for State Assemblymember Jim Wood.  Previously served as District Director for a State Senator and a Field Representative for a member of the U.S. Congress.  Currently serves on Sonoma County’s Maternal Child and Adolescent Advisory Board and is an adviser to the Child Care Planning Council of Sonoma County.

Special Interests:  Policy, public administration, and community engagement

Senior at Maria Carrillo High School. 

Plays in the school symphonic and jazz bands, sings in the school chambers choir, and was the lead in the school musical.  President of the Junior State of America Club and was the regional mayor of Junior State.

​Enjoys leadership roles and public speaking.
