Hilliard Comstock Middle School (HCMS)

Located in a quiet, suburban park, HCMS has much to offer all students including a full slate of advanced English and math courses. The core courses of math, English, social science and science align closely with the Advanced Placement courses offered at Piner High.

Elective courses include: beginning and advanced art, band, chorus, Teen Living, leadership, metal shop, and woodshop. Extra-curricular activities include interscholastic sports, intramural sports, Yearbook, Diversity Club, Math Counts Club, Drama Club and after school courses for the Gifted and Talented Program. The staff is experienced, caring and supportive of students. The school fosters a learning environment that is respectful, responsible, and accountable. Counselors meet with students to discuss middle school issues as well as lead the conflict management program. A very committed parent group helps to bring speakers to campus to address adolescent issues and to coordinate school volunteers. The school celebrates student success with the Renaissance program.

At Lawrence Cook your student will experience a learning environment that fosters an individual’s academic growth. Students have the benefit of attending programs ranging from and Integrated Math/Science program for high level students interested in careers requiring a strong foundation in those areas and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) to after school programs that incorporate tutorial recreation and enrichment.

Staff and parents share a philosophy that every student can achieve. Within the classroom, teachers maintain high expectations and align curriculum to district standards in core subject areas. Across the curriculum, students are exposed to teaching strategies that address literacy and learning. Professional development for staff includes: SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) and standards-based instruction.

LCMS offers classes in parent education and advancement in higher learning. In the spring, parents enjoy Pathways, study skills and career courses in an evening designed to educate them in the choices for their student in high school and beyond. Come join the LCMS community of learners.

Rincon Valley Middle School (RVMS)

Rincon Valley Middle School is located on 18 acres in a quiet residential neighborhood in northeastern Santa Rosa. Recently modernized facilities include the following: a gymnasium with a stage, drama and music rooms, tennis and outside basketball courts, a spacious library containing 16 computer stations with Internet connections, computer classroom, fitness room, five science labs and an art classroom. RVMS is designated as a California Distinguished School. RVMS offers advanced courses in English, College Preparatory math and traditional algebra. English and history teachers coordinate assignments. There is a strong instrumental band and performing arts program and a school-wide focus on reading with 30 minutes of sustained silent reading and work period four times per week. The school celebrates and acknowledges student success with a Renaissance rally each semester, students of the quarter, students of the quarter, students of the week and a school-wide awards assembly at the end of the year.

Extra-curricular activities include the following: noontime intramural sports program, yearbook and Earthsavers clubs and gifted and talented classes. The school places an emphasis on fitness for life as well as healthy life styles and teamwork. After school tutoring is offered two days a week to strengthen academic learning. Students consistently score high on SAT9 scores. The school has shown yearly improvement in its Accountability Performance Indicator (API).

Santa Rosa Middle School (SRMS)

Centrally located in the city of Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Middle School provides a safe, nurturing learning environment. The dedicated staff is committed to providing a hig quality, standards-based curriculum and to meeting the varying needs of the diverse student body. The curriculum emphasizes higher level critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and mastery of necessary skills for success in high school. SRMS offers a state-of-the-art industrial technology program and foreign language classes starting at 7th grade.

Student support programs include a Renaissance program to award academic achievement, conflict management, counseling services provided by Social Advocates for Youth and the Drug and Alcohol Alternatives Center, after school tutoring programs and parent education. The Parent/Faculty/Student Organization actively supports all students and faculty. SRMS takes pride in its commitment to providing a strong academic program in a positive and safe learning environment.

Herbert Slater Middle School (HSMS)

Herbert Slater Middle School is committed to providing a full educational experience and to providing a safe and secure educational environment. The staff is committed to a standards based education that transitions students from their elementary experience and prepares them for what lies ahead in high school. Advanced English, algebra and Spanish classes help students be prepared for International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement classes in high school. The school is also committed to doing the best it can to meet individual student needs through after school tutorial sessions.

HSMS offers a variety of activities that help provide valuable social experiences. Clubs include; Art, Golf, and Community Unity. HSMS has a great lunch time sports program to boost homeroom competition. The Renaissance Program recognizes students for academic improvement and excellence during quarterly rallies.
